Australian Butterflies

I feel drawn to this photograph of a male Australian Common Eggfly because of the color contrast and the clarity of the butterfly. The black butterfly stands out on the green background, and the white and blue spots stand out on the black wings. When I look at this, my eye is drawn first to the blue and white spots. I then notice the black, followed by the green. I appreciate noticing the different parts of this photo in that order. Smaller details seem to stand out before the larger picture. In addition, the butterfly itself is a little bit clearer than the background, which causes it to stand out more. This keeps the focus on the butterfly. I think this photo is one of my favorites of those that I have taken. I could stare at this for a while.
This male Australian Cruiser also stands out for its colors and clarity. I appreciate the details in the wings and body. I especially like the way the sun lights up the wings. The butterfly is definitely clearer than the background, again keeping the focus on the butterfly. The light reflecting off of the leaf also stands out to me, bringing out yellow and white in addition to the green.
